My name is Stephen Richard Melling and my job and my passion is the creation of film. I have had an interest in films and the making of films since a very early age. I used to watch films such as Memphis Belle and Independence Day over and over again – sometimes multiple times a day. I think by doing this out of the love for the film came the natural studying and breaking down of basic techniques. For example, structure, pace and shot angles. This of course wasn’t my intention at the time; at the time I just wanted to experience the story again because I enjoyed it. But I think on a subconscious level at least I was already learning the basics of filmmaking. I am currently 23 years old and have had experiences in a number of different professional roles in many different areas of filmmaking. I work mainly as a freelance camera operator and film things as varied as music videos, corporate videos and event coverage. The aim for me at the start of 2012 was to make as many short films as possible and get my name out there. I am by no means successful and I for one would like to change that fact!
