We are film director duo mCLorDmAgrAo and Suzie Blake and our entry into Virgin Media Shorts is our first collaborative effort! Magrao is a musician and Suzie is a photographer by trade, and we both have previous experience directing individually. As well as being a filmmaker duo we are also a couple. We fell in love over a few drinks and a mutual adoration of David Lynch and Lars Von Trier. Directing together was inevitable and the idea for Marco Polo came about early last year upon the suggestion of a friend who mentioned the competition to us. We are really proud of our first short, not just because we’re happy with the finished product, but because we discovered we can work together without killing each other! Marco Polo was produced on a budget of £500 with a cast and crew totaling 6 people. We shot, edited, directed and produced this little number all on our own, but not without the help of some very talented people.
