Evelyne's World

About this film

Film maker:
Evelyne is a girl who has lived her whole life in Plato's Cave (a deserted street in New York). For her, this street is her reality - she knows nothing more. She goes through her day acting in a way that is not restrained by the pulls and ties of the real world. She satisfies her physical needs first (receiving food) and then gives thanks for the food the has received. After this, she expresses curiosity about herself, and her existence. Following this, she becomes creative, making primitive music and markings on a wall. In a way it follows Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. At the end of the film, Evelyne is questioned about the reality of her existence, and her response is mysterious.
