I'm a filmmaker from Manchester who has always wanted to make films since as far back as i can remember. I went to college to study to become a actor so that i could understand the whole acting process and the way actors think. After three years there, I studied filmmaking at Worcester and Wolverhampton Unversity where i gained a BA Honours. I want to be the in the film industry because its the only thing that i'm intrested in and passionate about.

Nice one man. I really enjoyed your film. I'm in the business and I thought everything was of a high standard. Well done. Keep it up.

I am professional actor and when not on set i enjoy writing scripts and other aspects of film making, so i am looking at this piece from those angles as well as just as a viewer.

I think you did a really good job here. Interesting, absorbing and subtle character interaction with a really nice little finish.

    Enjoyed watching it.

Take a look at one called 'After You'. Its a film on here that i did and strangely it has a very similar intereaction.

Best of luck with the competition and with your future

Nice one. Don't get the title though. Isn't Butterface an insult? (as in - she's got a nice bod BUT HER FACE... (butterface))
    Was that intentional?

Being in the industry myself I can really appreciate how hard it is to try and tell a story in 3 minutes. You managed to pull it off. Good job mate, well done.

PS I recognise the actor. Have I worked with him before?

It was nicely done however it was a bit far fetched. She must have seen him before or knows who he is why else would she sit next to a strange man on a train when there are other seats that are completely empty. Maybe she's desperate? I have to go back to my original theory, it only makes sense if she had noticed him before. I think it would have been nice to give a hint to that or if she was a perfect stranger then she should have sat across the isle and exchanged looks.

Still those are small points, nicely done.

  • This is super! It makes perfect sense as long as you accept that it's subjective and shot from the boy's perspective and taking all his insecurities into account. From the audience, dont you wish he'd waved back!?!

This was a lovely film. I've only watched a handful at random but this is the first one that really got me; its very sweet. Wish I knew more, like if they met again, what happened but that would never work in such a short space of time and what you got from your use of time was quite lovely. I particularly liked the part when you glance towards her to smile but realised you forgot to smile lol that was such a sweet moment and make me laugh.

Great film, well done and good luck for your future!

  • Got to say had good and bad points if I am being honest. The fact it was longer than allowed gives you an advantage over most of the other films, and am sure with the extra time other films could have told more in their stories too.
But good concept. Sure it could be remade longer and therefore deeper too. Good luck.

Hello Mr McLaughlin, I'm a filmmaker also & we only live up the road from each other. I seen a news report in a local Manchester paper on your short film. Well done on your success on making the short list! your film to me was over all very good but I hate to have to say however the female actress did ruin it for me as she looked directly at the camera man & had to stop herself from laughing, This to me should have been noticed & corrected, but apart from that it's great to see your film in the short list & I wish you all the best & look forward to your future works.

    Good luck, Adam.
