    that's a good idea.
    It's unique and sooo original.
    So is sarcasm.

If you've ever been to a media student graduation screening, this is the sort of film you'd be hard pressed to remember labouring through if you were (forcibly) shown it two days later.
The only particularly amusing element is the nathan barley esque, childish expression which spreads across the lying, bearded, characters face.

One of the points of chosing short films is for their innovative nature. This plainly stinks of the sort of thing that red dwarfs' overfunded copycat cousin farts out on a semi regular occasion, and everyone in the room goes 'who did that?' to which he smirks shamelessly and then dances, and everyone claps because 'bless him, he's trying to make us laugh'. (talking of lesser, younger, family members is the lead actor mark benton's atrociously pointless brother)

That said the film gets my vote

Beautifully made and acted, though I have to say, another 'one joke, one-liner' short film. Nicely done, but doesn't do much.

First of all a huge thanks to all of you who have taken the time to watch my film, especially those who've left some really kind comments - it's very much appreciated!

In response to moog, the film was shot on DigiBeta, for £192 (plus a whole host of favours from a very generous/talented cast and crew!).

Thanks again for all your comments - good and bad!
To Arron - The film was shot on a Sony Digibeta camera (a 790 I think). The DOP owned it and he kindly donated it for free - and then did a brilliant job lighting it. It's the first time I've got to make a film on a professional camera and I think you can really see the difference.

And why do people only use an nth of their potential. It's like all the terrible programmes and Films out there.

How many of us would love to have the opportunity to travel back in time? When the film began my first thought was "Dr Who!" The lighting, the music, the tension, the humour, the drama.........the welsh accents? I really enjoyed it when the little girl said "grandad"... quite unexpected. I was carried along to the end with a flourish! Short and sweet, and I was left wanting more!

  • Congrats on the best film I've seen on the site so far. Very strong piece from the acting to the set design and the camera/lighting. Due to the constraints of the competition this is just nitpicking, but it felt more like a sketch from a comedy show than a short film. I'd be interested in seeing some of your other work if you're ever interested in collaborating - I think you can check out some of mine by clicking my username.
    Thanks, and well done, Mark.

  • Okay. I have a film in this competition myself but I like this film. To be honest it's nice to see actual character interaction which seems to be lacking throughout this competition. Too many voiceovers used in my opinion and too many talking heads - which have become a slightly lazy way of conveying comedy - which, for me has been done and done in UK comedy. This is a nice idea though, well executed, and has a lovely twist at the end. Really good prod design too. Good luck!

In response to SC – If they had all been my friends I’d have got them to watch and compliment my other film on here too! :o) For some reason this has got 5x the viewings of The Razorhead but I’m not sure why that would be.

Thanks again everybody – feedback is always useful!

This was a pleasure to watch. It's very different and has the flow of a short comedy film. Would have been a joy to see more as I was curious to see it continue a bit longer, but plenty of films even feature length leave you wanting more. with that in mind that element works in your favour, people will be wanting to see more of your work in the future. all the best, you have my vote
