So if you've submitted a film to the Virgin Media Shorts competition, what's in it for you?

The shortlist winners

We'll select 12 films to be shown in 211 cinema screens nationwide, not just once, but for a whole year.

If you're one of the chosen 12, you film will be showcased on the Virgin Media Shorts website and may also be shown on TV, on-demand TV, mobile internet and anywhere else that we think will give you maximum exposure.

The People's Choice

One of the shortlisted films will be chosen by the Great British Public as their favourite. If it's yours,  you'll win a high spec camcorder, worth up to £3,000. In the event of a tie, we'll divide £3,000 between the winners.

The Grand Prize

As well as seeing your work broadcast in front of millions online and on 211 cinema screens nationwide, you could also pocket up to £30,000 and work direct with the UK Film Council and Virgin Media to shoot your next film.

If you scoop the big prize, you have two prize options:

1. You can claim the £15,000 funding prize from Virgin Media and develop your next short film within one year. We’ll appoint an agency who’ll help you develop and progress your project.

2. You can apply for the additional £15,000 funding from the UK Film Council. That’s a total of £30,000 to fund your next film! Plus, you’ll benefit from the guidance of the UK Film Council during the making of your film. It’s easy to do, the UK Film council will help you with your application to make sure it’s a success.
